WELCOME to an exciting new event, London Video RendezVous. No, that's not another expensive corporate conference on the future of digital, connected things. It's a fresh arena where the creative community, independent publishers and their service providers engage in frank, plain-speaking, no-holds-barred discussion about developments vital to their livelihood, now.
It's a space where frontline practitioners demand technology and solutions suppliers to go beyond the headlines and explain what, why, how, and how much. They seek - and expect - practical, actionable answers that help them and their clients prosper in a challenging marketplace.
From cloud-based UltraViolet and disc-to-digital service to Digital Copy; from 3D production, conversion and delivery to 3D glasses vs. glasses-free; from Blu-ray apps to second screen experiences. No stone - virtual or physical - thrown at the creative community and their content-owning clients will be unturned!
While others do the talking, London Video RendezVous will do the walking. That is the place where applications and services will be demonstrated 'live'. UltraViolet and competitors, but also MediaEcho, PocketBlu, MovieQ, Shazam-enabled BD, MOD/Micro-publishing, Augmented Reality and others. A stage is provided to showcase novel solutions and applications that push the creative boundaries. Facility houses will thus be able to show their clients the services they can offer, and clients will experience first-hand the potential benefits they can bring.
This is only half the story, though, which takes place at the illustrious BFI Southbank. London Video RendezVous is also a much-needed get-together where, after a hard day's work, everyone relaxes onboard the Golden Flame boat, enjoying BBQ and live music while riding the Thames ... in a mid-June evening!
My advice? Book early to avoid disappointment, as they say!
